According to professional regulations (§ 43a para. 4 BRAO), attorneys are prohibited from representing conflicting interests. For this reason, a conflict of interest check is conducted before accepting a mandate.

For client relationships with clients resident abroad, German law applies to the exclusion of German private international law.
Out-of-Court Dispute Resolution
In the event of disputes between attorneys and their clients, there is the possibility of out-of-court dispute resolution upon application at the respective regional bar association (www.rak-karlsruhe.de) pursuant to § 73 para. 2 no. 3 in conjunction with § 73 para. 5 BRAO or at the Arbitration Board of the German Bar Association pursuant to § 191f. BRAO.
